What 10 Years of Building Websites Has Taught Us

page title border

This week marks 10 years since we launched the PixelPeople website, which we’ve always considered the official launch of the business.

Over the past decade, we’ve had the opportunity to build, maintain, and improve websites for many great organizations, helping them grow their online presence along the way.

A lot has changed on the web in ten years.

When PixelPeople launched:

  • Mobile traffic was just beginning to dominate
  • Page builders were still relatively new
  • Performance optimization wasn’t top-of-mind for many businesses
  • AI wasn’t part of the conversation yet

Today the expectations for websites are very different. Sites need to be fast, mobile-friendly, secure, search-optimized, and integrated with a wide range of marketing tools.

But while the technology keeps evolving, some things have stayed the same.

What hasn’t changed

Our approach has always focused on a few core ideas:

Build custom websites that fit the organization.
Templates and page builders can work in some situations, but many organizations benefit from a site built around their specific needs.

Prioritize performance and reliability.
A beautiful site doesn’t matter if it’s slow, insecure, or difficult to maintain.

Support clients for the long haul.
A website shouldn’t be a one-time project. The best sites evolve over time as organizations grow and change.

Looking ahead

The web will likely change even more in the next ten years than it has in the past ten. AI, automation, and new search behaviors are already reshaping how people interact with websites.

What won’t change is our focus on helping organizations build websites that are fast, flexible, and built to last.

To the clients, partners, and team members who have trusted PixelPeople along the way—thank you.

We’re excited to see what the next decade brings.
