WordPress Support Specialist

PixelPeople is a boutique digital agency based in Chicago’s western suburbs. We specialize in custom WordPress website development for businesses in a wide variety of industries. We also provide ongoing support & maintenance, digital marketing, and related technical services, to support every facet of our clients’ web presence.

We are currently looking for a WordPress Support Specialist to build and edit pages using popular visual editors (Divi, Elementor, WPBakery, etc.) and custom themes built with ACF. The person in this position will also provide troubleshooting support for existing sites, provide ongoing website maintenance, and conduct similar tasks to support our clients and their websites.

This is a remote, part-time position requiring 20 hours/week. We have a backlog of work and strong growth which could lead to increased hours or a full-time position in the near future, if desired.

This part-time position starts at $30-45/hour, DOE. The current position does not include benefits, but benefits would be offered if the role grows into a full-time position.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

  • A positive, team-focused attitude. We want to build a team of helpful talent, not egos.
  • Excellent organization and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to thoroughly evaluate and test your own work.
  • In-depth knowledge of the WordPress platform and the ability to create new pages and sections using popular visual editors and/or Advanced Custom Fields.
  • Strong command of HTML and CSS for styling pages.
  • Experience configuring common plugins like Yoast, SmartSlider3, WooCommerce, The Events Calandar, Event Espresso, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with pages, themes, plugins, and hosting environments.
  • Experience estimating the time it will take to make website changes & additions.
  • Ability to ask direct questions and/or improvise effectively using best practices when you don’t have explicit direction.
  • Willingness to help establish, document, and refine our website support & development processes.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience.
  • Availability during regular business hours (Central Time).

And it will help to have:

  • Familiarity with FTP and hosting platforms commonly used for hosting WordPress sites.
  • Familiarity with Bootstrap and Flexbox.
  • Experience building out new themes, including common PHP functions used in WordPress page templates.
