Full-Stack Web Developer

PixelPeople is a boutique digital agency based in Chicago’s western suburbs. We specialize in custom WordPress web development for businesses in a wide variety of industries. We also provide ongoing support & maintenance, digital marketing, and related technical services, to support every facet of our clients’ web presence.

We are currently looking for a Full-Stack Web Developer to build advanced WordPress plugins, API and/or AJAX integrations, and WooCommerce customizations for the custom themes we build. It would be beneficial for the candidate to have front-end JavaScript/jQuery experience to help develop the user interfaces, as well. Successful candidates will have strong foundational skills in HTML & CSS, experience with the WordPress platform, and knowledge of LAMP stack hosting environments. This is a remote, contract position, that could turn into a part-time or even full-time position in the near future.

This contract position starts at $40-55/hour, DOE.

To succeed in this position, you will need:

• A positive, team-focused attitude. We want to build a team of helpful talent, not egos.
• Excellent organization and written/verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to thoroughly evaluate and test your own work.
• In-depth knowledge of the WordPress platform and the ability to create plugins & AJAX and/or API integrations.
• Strong command of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript/jQuery, HTML, and CSS as it pertains to building and enhancing WordPress websites.
• A good sense for interface design & usability, to ensure that everything we build is top-notch on both the front end and back end.
• At least 3 years of professional experience.
• Availability during regular business hours (Central Time).

It would be helpful to also have:

• Familiarity with Laravel Valet, using Grunt and SASS.
• Familiarity with remote team collaboration & version control using GIT.
• Familiarity with hosting platforms commonly used for hosting WordPress sites.
